Russia is developing a new type of unmanned combat aircraft – Following the development of the Hunter, a large unmanned aircraft that seeks to compete with Australia’s Boeing Loyal Wingman, Russia has announced its next project.
Russia is developing a new type of unmanned combat aircraft
MilitaryEzyInfo.com – It is the AP-10 Argument, an unmanned aircraft developed on the base of a manned trainer aircraft.
It should be noted that this project is fully in line with Russia’s approach to understanding the goals and challenges of unmanned aircraft.
Russia already has the Inokhodets light attack aircraft and the Arti reconnaissance attack aircraft.
Inokhodets has a combat radius of 300 kilometers and includes three unmanned aircraft and a mobile ground control center. The “Arti,” on the other hand, is controlled via satellite, has up to 48 hours of autonomy, carries high-precision air weapons, and can strike targets at distances of up to 10,000 kilometers.
Based on the SR-10 manned trainer aircraft, the AP-10 “Argument” UAV is intended for inter-area operations.
Much of the information about this project is classified. However, it is known that this new drone can operate in a radius of 300 to 800 kilometers and is faster than Altius. This means that the drone is fully capable of handling the level of front-line loads.
In addition, the possibility of mounting X-38 missiles in the fuselage compartment of the new UAV has been mentioned, which would allow the Argument to carry out fast and accurate attacks.
Also, the possibility of drones operating alongside manned aircraft has not been ruled out.
