Russia will bring to life one of the greatest fears of the U.S. – Leonkov: Moscow is preparing to implement one of the main US military fears
Russia will bring to life one of the greatest fears of the U.S.
Military expert and columnist Aleksey Leonkov spoke about Russia’s rather tough response to the possible deployment of American medium- and short-range missiles on the territory of Europe. According to the specialist, in response to the unfriendly actions of the West, Moscow is preparing to adopt one of the most intimidating missile systems for the United States.
Leonkov said that Russia is preparing an uncompromising response to the appearance of American missiles on the territory of Europe – in this case, Moscow will implement one of the main fears of the US military by arming the modernized Barguzin railroad missile system, which is an improved analog of the Molodets missile system. The Economica Segodnya writes about it.
The Pentagon was so scared of this Russian train with nuclear missiles that when it appeared in the 90s Washington did everything to get it banned as part of the START agreement. Leonkov explained that the Americans were very afraid of it because it was impossible to detect. Plus they hated this project because of the failure of a similar one of theirs – either the rocket was too heavy, or the track could not withstand the composition.
The development of “Barguzin” was started in Russia immediately after the US left the ABM treaty. Thus, Russia is preparing to put into reality one of the main fears of the Pentagon in response to the appearance of American missiles in Europe, summarized Leonkov.
