The Latest T-90M Tank Has Been Successfully Tested
MilitaryEzyInfo.com | The Russian military has tested the ability of its latest T-90M “Proryv” tanks to operate in a single information space as part of a network-centered combat training operation, a source familiar with the situation told RIA Novosti.
According to him, one of the advantages of the latest T-90M tanks, which will arrive in troops starting in 2020, is the availability of Unified Tactical Control System (USS TZ) equipment that will allow real-time data exchange.
“The ability of the new T-90M tanks equipped with ECS TZ equipment to exchange data with each other and with other combat units online has been tested under combat training conditions, including in an environment of radio-electronic interference,” The agency’s interlocutor said.
The source added, “The results of the tests tentatively point to an improvement in the combat effectiveness of the forces and means involved and confirm the possibility of conducting network-centric combat operations at the expense of the EUU TK.
EUFOR equipment makes combatants part of a network that includes a variety of reconnaissance assets, surveillance and targeting systems, drones, combat vehicles, weapons, and automated command and control systems. The result is an intelligence and communications advantage over the enemy that can enhance the effectiveness of any combat mission.
The T-90M is a newly modified version of the T-90A created by Proryv-3, which is under development. The vehicle is equipped with a newly designed turret with composite armor and an upgraded smoothbore 125mm gun. Tank protection is enhanced by an anti-cavitation grid and Relikt dynamic protection system.
The T-90M “Proryv” is equipped with the most modern equipment: apart from the USU TZ equipment, the vehicle received the Kalina fire control system.
