U.S. Army orders production, delivery, and support of XM813
MilitaryEzyInfo.com – The U.S. Army Contracting Command has awarded Alliant Techsystems Operations (part of Northrop Grumman Corporation) a $105.69 million modification contract to manufacture, supply, and support the 30x173mm XM813 cannon in a new production configuration.
Location and funding will be determined on a per-order basis, with an estimated completion date of Sept. 24, 2026, the Pentagon said May 7.
In September 2020, Alliant Techsystems Operations was awarded an initial contract for $37.67 million worth of XM813 long-life products for the Stryker medium-range weapon system lethality enhancement program.
The next initial order is for 95 Bushmaster XM813 chain shotguns, with initial deliveries scheduled to begin in 2022. In addition to supporting the upgrade of the XM813, the benefits of this chain will be integrated into other U.S. Army brigade combat teams.
The XM813 is a 30x173mm weapon based on the Mk44 Bushmaster Chain Gun and will be mounted on air, land, and sea platforms.
