MilitaryEzyInfo.com | On January 6, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine confirmed information that the USA will transfer the Mark VI patrol boats to Ukraine. It is noted that they will be used to protect the coasts of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. The two boats will arrive in Ukraine by the end of 2022.
It is noted that the company in the States Boats International LLC has already received a defense order from the US Navy Command to build boats for Kyiv in the shortest possible time.
The first batch will be handed over to the AFU by the end of 2022, and in total Kyiv will be able to receive 16 such boats within the framework of cooperation with the USA.
Earlier it was noted that the gunboats will be used for the protection of the Black and Azov Seas. Mark VI is a high-speed boat, which is used for the protection of coastal territories, patrolling in the territory of ports. The maximum speed is up to 63 km/h. The boats for Ukraine are equipped with modern equipment and gun systems MSI Seahawk A2 and MK 44.
Earlier it became known that Ukraine’s military boats may soon be equipped with anti-ship missiles of Norwegian production NSM. The issue has been preliminarily agreed with the West.
